This guide collects free SPM Biology resources: Form 4 and Form 5 topics, how exam questions are phrased, revision and a glossary. It helps you explain processes, not only name them.
What this subject covers
Biology moves from cells and transport in Form 4 to body systems, inheritance and ecology. Each topic has terms to learn and processes to explain.
Terms answer “what is it?” and processes answer “what happens and why?”. Exam questions keep asking for the second kind, so practise the two separately.
An example to start with
Here is an original diagram-in-words, written for illustration.
Sunlight → leaf absorbs light → chlorophyll traps energy → water + carbon dioxide → glucose + oxygen
A recall answer writes only “photosynthesis makes glucose.” An explanation answer follows the chain: light energy is trapped by chlorophyll, which drives the reaction between water and carbon dioxide, producing glucose for the plant and oxygen released through the stomata.
The evidence step matters too. If a question shows a plant kept in the dark with no starch, the answer connects the missing light to the missing glucose. Practising that link is the aim of this guide.
How to study the parts in order
- Use the Form 4 guide to build the cell, transport and nutrition foundations.
- Continue with the Form 5 guide for systems, inheritance and ecology.
- Read the exam guide to see how questions are phrased, and confirm the current format on the Lembaga Peperiksaan website.
- Build your final plan from the revision guide.
- Check any unfamiliar word in the glossary.
Who should start where
A student who reads chapters but cannot explain them aloud should begin with the help page on memorising terms without being able to explain a process. A student who mixes up similar processes can use the page on comparing two Biology processes clearly.
If you want a teacher to hear the student explain, see online one-to-one SPM Biology tuition and choosing a useful lesson focus.
