Our online one-to-one SPM English tuition gives each student an experienced English teacher, with lessons built on the student’s own writing and reading answers rather than another vocabulary list. The first class is a one-hour trial class from RM50, with the fee agreed before it starts.
Who English tuition helps most
English marks usually stall in three places, and each needs a different kind of lesson.
- Flat writing. The sentences are grammatical, yet the piece has no shape, so the mark stays in the middle of the range.
- Copied comprehension answers. The student finds the right line in the text but lifts it whole instead of answering the question.
- Accuracy slips. Tense, agreement and punctuation errors the student can fix when shown, but does not catch alone.
A one-to-one teacher sees which of these is happening by reading the student’s own pages. That is faster than a general class, where the teacher meets the writing once and moves on.
What a lesson looks like: revising one paragraph
Here is a worked example of how a teacher turns a draft into a better answer. The task: write to a friend about a school event.
Last Saturday our school had a charity run. It was very good. Crowds came. I felt happy.
The teacher does not rewrite it. The student works through a checklist the teacher makes visible, one question at a time.
| Check | Question to ask | Draft problem |
|---|---|---|
| Detail | Could a reader picture it? | “very good” says nothing |
| Rhythm | Are all sentences the same length? | Four short sentences in a row |
| Feeling | Is the feeling shown or only named? | “I felt happy” |
The student then produces a second draft.
Last Saturday, our school held a charity run for the flood relief fund. Crowds lined the field, and the Form 1 students cheered at every corner. My legs ached by the last lap, but I grinned as I crossed the line.
The content did not change. The student applied three checks. That checklist is what a student keeps, and it is the same idea as the English writing task checklist you can use alone.
Which language tasks can an online lesson cover?
Most of the written work in the paper can be taught online, because the teacher and student look at the same text and talk through it.
- Guided and extended writing: planning, paragraphing, tone and revision.
- Reading answers: locating evidence and putting it in the student’s own words.
- Grammar and cloze passages: explaining why a tense or connector fits.
- Vocabulary in context: choosing words from the sentence around them.
- Speaking rehearsal: answering aloud with structure.
The limits are plain. Any school-based speaking assessment happens at school, and a teacher cannot promise a grade. Listening practice uses the audio the teacher chooses, not a live exam room.
