Our online one-to-one SPM Science tuition gives each student an experienced teacher assigned to them, with lessons built around the concept, data and explanation questions that student misses. The first class is a one-hour trial from RM50, and more than 9,000 students have been helped through our service.
Who Science tuition helps most
Sains spreads across a wide range of topics, so marks tend to leak in three places.
- Concepts that stay as definitions. The student can recite “respiration releases energy” but cannot apply it to a question about a runner or a seed.
- Data questions. A table or graph appears and the student describes the numbers instead of saying what they show.
- Explanation answers. The idea is right, but the answer has no reason linking cause to effect, so the mark is not awarded.
A teacher working one-to-one can see which of these is happening within a few questions, because they watch the student think instead of only marking the final line. For the reading side, the Sains help guide on question vocabulary is a good free place to start.
What a lesson looks like: interpreting data with stated assumptions
Here is a worked example of how a teacher models careful reasoning.
A student grows two bean seedlings for 14 days. Seedling A gets a fertiliser solution and grows from 4 cm to 11 cm. Seedling B gets plain water and grows from 4 cm to 8 cm. Is the fertiliser better?
Most students write “Seedling A grew more, so fertiliser is better” and stop. The teacher asks what must be true for that sentence to hold.
| Quantity | Seedling A | Seedling B |
|---|---|---|
| Growth | 11 − 4 = 7 cm | 8 − 4 = 4 cm |
| Difference | 7 − 4 = 3 cm more |
The data support “A grew 3 cm more”. To call the fertiliser the cause, the student must state assumptions: same light, same soil, same amount of water, same seed type, and only the fertiliser changed. With one seedling per group, a single stronger seed could also explain 3 cm, so the honest conclusion is that the result suggests a benefit and needs repeating.
That last sentence is what a fair-variable question rewards. In tuition the student repeats the move on new tables until stating assumptions becomes automatic.
What one-to-one lessons can and cannot do
Lessons can rebuild understanding, practise explanation writing and give immediate feedback on wording. They work best when the student brings the questions they got wrong.
Practical activities assessed in school remain at school. What the lesson can do is make the student harder to surprise by an unfamiliar context, because the reasoning pattern is the same.
How starting works
- Message us on WhatsApp with the form and the Science topics that feel hardest.
- We assign an experienced Science teacher and arrange the one-hour trial class (from RM50).
- After the trial, you decide whether the teacher is a good fit, and you and the teacher agree the schedule and lesson focus.
Read more about the one-hour trial class or how our online tuition works. If the student also takes the separate sciences, see the Sains versus pure-science explanation.

The SPM Science learning guide has lessons for each form, and the prerequisite gap finder helps you spot which earlier skill is holding a topic back. Before enquiring, choosing a useful Science lesson focus helps you plan the trial.
