Questions
1. For the prompt اكتب عن أسرتِك (write about your family), write three keyword points.
Answer
Sample: (1) أبي وأمّي (my father and mother), (2) أخي وأختي (my brother and sister), (3) نحبُّ بعضَنا (we love one another). Each point uses words you can write and suggests one or two sentences.
2. Which sentence does not belong in a paragraph about the library? (a) أقرأُ كتابًا في المكتبةِ (b) المكتبةُ هادئةٌ (c) أحبُّ كرةَ القدمِ
Answer
(c). It is about football, not the library.
3. Write a topic sentence and one supporting detail about your favourite day.
Answer
Sample: يومُ الجمعةِ يومي المفضّلُ. أزورُ جدّتي في القريةِ. The second sentence gives a detail about the same day.
4. Choose the bridge for a paragraph that adds another point: (وفي النهايةِ / كذلك / أمّا)
Answer
كذلك. It adds a point at the same level. وفي النهايةِ signals the end.
5. Write a closing line for a paragraph about your school day.
Answer
Sample: ولذلك أحبُّ يومي في المدرسةِ. “So I love my school day.” It returns to the main idea without a new one.
6. Correct the agreement: ذَهَبُوا الطالباتُ إلى المكتبةِ.
Answer
ذَهَبَتِ الطالباتُ إلى المكتبةِ. The verb stays singular before the doer and takes the feminine ـتْ.
7. The sentence is about yesterday: أقرأُ القصةَ أمسِ. Correct the verb.
Answer
قرأتُ القصةَ أمسِ. أمسِ shows past time, so the past form with ـتُ for “I” is needed.
8. Edit in two passes (meaning, connector): أنا مريضٌ لذلك ذهبتُ إلى الطبيبِ لأنّ.
Answer
The sentence ends with a dangling لأنّ, so the meaning breaks. Remove it: أنا مريضٌ، لذلك ذهبتُ إلى الطبيبِ. “I am sick, so I went to the doctor.” Keep لذلك for the result.
