Choose the focus by reading where marks were lost in recent answers, not by how long the syllabus looks. Four focuses cover most Sejarah (History) students, and each has a visible sign.
Which focus matches which problem?
| Focus | Sign it fits | What lessons practise |
|---|---|---|
| Content catch-up | Key events or terms are missing from answers | Short, connected summaries of one chapter at a time |
| Chronology and links | Events are in the wrong order, or causes and effects are swapped | A small number of anchor dates and a cause-effect chain |
| Explaining, not listing | Plenty of facts, few marks | Turning each fact into event, significance and limit |
| KBAT and evidence | Low marks on higher-order questions | Using a source or stimulus to support a reasoned view |
Most students need one main focus and one secondary. Start with the main one so the early lessons feel manageable.
How do I tell content gaps from answer-skill gaps?
Take one answer that lost marks and underline each fact in it. If there are very few facts, the gap is content. If there are plenty of facts but none link to the wording of the question, the gap is answer skill.
The guide to chronology without disconnected dates and the supported KBAT answer guide each match one row of the table.
What if most chapters are still unread?
A student who is short on time may need a revision order more than a teaching focus. The page on revising Sejarah when many chapters remain sets out one.
A teacher can then help the student check the highest-priority chapters through answers rather than rereading. That keeps the limited hours on the chapters where marks can be gained fastest.
What should the trial lesson test?
The trial is a real one-hour lesson, from RM50. Bring one answer and let the teacher ask the student why each fact was included. Afterwards, ask what the next two lessons would cover and how the student will know it is working.
The after-trial reflection and discussion checklist gives you questions to use. The Sejarah tuition page explains how starting works, and what to do after a trial lesson covers the decision.
When might a free resource be enough?
If the student only needs a clear revision order and a few practice questions, the Sejarah learning guide may be enough for now. Tuition is most useful once there are written answers for a teacher to read.
