Hadith practice questions with answers

You have read the hadith lessons and want questions with explained answers.

These eight original questions practise the skills from Hadith learning support. Write your own answer before opening each one.

The questions use paraphrased teachings. For exact wording and sources, always use your prescribed textbook.

Questions

Question 1. A prescribed hadith teaches that a believer should speak good or stay silent. State its teaching in one sentence.

Answer

“A believer should guard speech by saying only what is good, or staying silent, because speech reflects faith.” One sentence, with an action and a reason, is enough. A retelling of the text is weaker.

Question 2. Name the three steps for finding a teaching.

Answer

Key word, action or belief, and result. Find the main word, link it to the verb the text uses, and note the result if the text states one. Do not invent a result that the text does not give.

Question 3. Explain one school application of the hadith in Question 1.

Answer

A student sees a classmate’s embarrassing photo in a chat group. She does not repost it and asks the classmate privately to remove it. This shows the teaching because she does not spread it in public and speaks only what is good. The result is respect in the group.

Question 4. Rewrite this weak application so it fits the teaching better: “A student is kind to everyone.”

Answer

The case is too general and fits any teaching. Add a detail tied to the verb, for example “A student hears a rumour about a friend, refuses to repeat it and changes the subject.” Then add a link sentence to the teaching.

Question 5. A question says “Write the hadith on intention.” Should you quote or paraphrase, and why?

Answer

Quote. The command “write” tests the text itself, so your wording must match the prescribed text. A paraphrase would not show recall of the wording. Check your copy with your teacher.

Question 6. A question says “Explain the meaning of the hadith on intention.” A student writes the answer inside quotation marks. Identify the problem.

Answer

Quotation marks suggest exact words, but an explanation is the student’s own wording. Remove the marks and begin with “The hadith teaches that”. The marks should be kept for the exact text only.

Question 7. List the three things to check on a hadith review card.

Answer

Source, wording, and meaning. Each line should be marked right or wrong by a qualified reviewer, then corrected in a different colour so the change is visible.

Question 8. A friend sends you a hadith in a chat message. Explain how you should treat it before using it in an answer.

Answer

Treat it as unchecked. Compare it with your prescribed textbook and ask your teacher to confirm the wording and source. Use it in an answer only after it has been checked, because small changes can alter meaning.

If you got these wrong

If Questions 1 and 2 were the gap, revisit identifying the teaching of a prescribed hadith. For Questions 3 and 4, use explaining applications using curriculum context.

For Questions 5 and 6, read distinguishing quotation from paraphrase. For Questions 7 and 8, see checking text accuracy with a qualified reviewer. A teacher can read your answers in online one-to-one Pendidikan Islam tuition.

Common questions

Are these past-year SPM questions?

No. They are original questions for practice. They train the skills behind exam questions but are not copied from any paper and do not predict what will appear.

Do the model answers replace my prescribed text?

No. The answers show structure and reasoning. Exact hadith wording, sources and meaning must follow your prescribed textbook and be checked by your teacher.

How long should I spend on each question?

Give a short teaching question about two minutes and an application question about five. Start untimed while you learn the structure, then add a limit that matches the marks in your own paper.

What if my answer differs from the model?

Check whether it names the teaching, uses a fitting case and links them. A different case can still earn credit. Bring doubtful wording to your teacher.

If you want your attempts read and discussed, one-to-one Pendidikan Islam lessons let a teacher go through your answers and build the next set from your gaps.
