Our online one-to-one SPM Penulisan Skrip tuition gives you an experienced teacher who reads your scene closely and critiques structure and dialogue. The first class is a one-hour trial class (from RM50).

Who this tuition helps

Scriptwriting students need a reader, and a reader is hard to find at home. The usual problems are specific.

  • Characters who explain. They tell each other facts the audience needs, so the scene reads like a report.
  • No turn in the scene. It begins and ends in the same emotional place.
  • An unfinished draft. The opening is polished, the middle is missing.

A teacher reading your actual pages can point to line 6 and say what it does wrong. That is difficult to get from a general writing guide.

What a lesson looks like: moving exposition into conflict

Here is an illustrative example.

First draft: Aina says to her brother, “As you know, Abang, we sold the shop last month and Ayah is now unemployed.”

Two people who both know the facts would not say this. The teacher asks: what does Aina want from Abang in this scene? The student decides she wants him to stop borrowing money.

Revised:

AINA: (holding the jar) Forty ringgit. It was sixty on Monday. ABANG: I’ll put it back. AINA: With what? Ayah is still waiting for a job.

The facts (missing money, no income) arrive through conflict. The reader also learns that Aina guards the jar and Abang avoids her eyes. The student then names the turn: the scene moves from accusation to Aina realising Abang may also be scared.

The repeated question is what each character wants right now. Practise it in developing the conflict and progression of an original short scene or revising dialogue to separate intention from exposition.

What online lessons can and cannot do

Lessons suit structure, format, dialogue revision, planning and critique of your draft. The teacher can work from a typed draft or handwritten pages.

Casting, rehearsal, filming and any assessed practical work happen at school. The teacher offers questions and options, never finished lines, so the work you submit stays your own. Grades cannot be promised.

How starting works

In your WhatsApp message, give your form and a short description of your scene. We assign an experienced teacher and agree the fee with you before the one-hour trial class (from RM50). After the trial you decide whether the teacher is a good fit, and you can ask for another teacher if not.

The trial lesson agenda builder helps you decide which pages to bring. How our online tuition works explains what follows.

Common questions

Will the teacher write my script for me?

No. The teacher reads your pages, asks about each character's goal and suggests what to try next. The script you submit is your own writing, so lessons strengthen your skill rather than replace it.

I have ideas but finish nothing. Can tuition help?

Yes. The teacher helps you shrink the idea to one short scene with a clear conflict, then build it in steps with a deadline for each step.

Does the subject need performance or filming?

Staging and any performed or recorded work is arranged through school. Online lessons cover structure, dialogue, format and revision of the written page.

What is the fee after the trial?

The first class is a one-hour trial from RM50. The rate depends on the teacher and is the same hourly rate as that teacher's normal classes, and the fee is agreed before the trial. Lessons are usually about 1.5 hours per class.

Which language are lessons taught in?

Lessons are in English or BM, depending on the subject, and the teacher explains clearly in whichever suits the student. The script is written in whichever language your course uses.

If your plot exists but the dialogue sounds flat, a one-to-one lesson can work line by line on your own scene. Send us your form and a page of script. Parents usually arrange the trial.
