Your child can list the terms, but marks slip when they must link each to an example.

Our online one-to-one SPM Manahij al-Ulum al-Islamiah tuition gives each student an experienced teacher assigned to them, with lessons built around the answers that student writes. The first class is a one-hour trial class from RM50, with the fee agreed before it starts.

Who this tuition helps

Students come to this subject with three different problems, and each needs a different lesson.

  • Term recall without meaning. The student has memorised the list of terms but cannot say what each one refers to.
  • Examples that float. The example is correct in itself, but it does not show the term it was meant to support.
  • Evidence that is named, not used. The student writes “as stated in the textbook” and stops before explaining how the source supports the point.

Families first message us because marks fall on explanation questions, not on recall. A teacher working with one student can see which of the three is happening within a few answers.

What a lesson looks like: term, example, evidence

Here is an original illustration of the structure a teacher builds with a student. The content is a pattern only, because the actual evidence must come from the prescribed textbook.

Question pattern: Explain the importance of being trustworthy in daily life.

A weak answer states the term and repeats it: “Being trustworthy is important because a trustworthy person is trustworthy.” The teacher asks one question for each part.

Part Question the teacher asks Weak answer Stronger answer
Term What does it mean in one line? Repeats the word Defines it in the student’s own words
Example Where would this happen? Generic statement A specific school or family moment
Evidence Which source supports it, and how? Names a source only Names the source, then links it to the example

The student rewrites the answer and the teacher checks that each part supports the next. Then the student repeats the exercise on new terms until the chain comes without prompting.

What one-to-one lessons can and cannot do

Lessons can clarify curriculum terms, organise recall and give instant feedback on written explanations. They work best when the student brings the answers that lost marks.

Assessments run by the school, and practice that needs a teacher in the room, stay at school. The teacher keeps to the curriculum and leaves personal religious guidance to the student’s own ustaz or ustazah.

Common questions

Is Manahij al-Ulum al-Islamiah tuition suitable if my child is struggling with Arabic terms?

Yes. The teacher starts with the terms the student already recognises and builds outward, explaining each in the language the student understands best. Terms and evidence are then practised until the student can write them without a prompt.

Does the teacher give religious rulings or personal opinions?

Lessons follow the school curriculum and the prescribed textbook. Personal religious questions belong with the student's own ustaz or ustazah, and the teacher will say so calmly if one comes up.

How much does the tuition cost?

The first class is a one-hour trial from RM50, charged at the same hourly rate as that teacher's normal classes. The rate depends on the teacher, and the fee is agreed before the trial. Lessons are usually about 1.5 hours per class, and the schedule is agreed with the teacher.

Which language are lessons taught in?

Lessons are in English or Bahasa Melayu, depending on the subject, and the teacher explains clearly in whichever suits the student. Tell us your preference when you enquire. Exam answers stay in the language the student writes the paper in.

Which parts stay with the school?

Any assessment the school runs, and any practice that needs a teacher present in person, stays at school. Online lessons cover understanding, organised recall and written explanation.

If your answers name the right term but the example and evidence do not support it, a teacher watching you write can point to the exact sentence where the link breaks. Tell us your form and the chapter that feels hardest. Parents usually arrange the trial.
