Our online one-to-one SPM Reka Bentuk Grafik Digital tuition gives each student an experienced teacher assigned to them, with lessons built around the student’s own layouts and project notes. The first class is a one-hour trial class (from RM50), with the fee agreed before it starts.

Who does this tuition help?

Students in this subject usually have ideas and software skills, and lose marks on explaining and organising them.

  • Visual hierarchy. Everything is the same size, so nothing leads the eye.
  • Process documentation. The final design is fine, but the steps from concept sketch to layout are vague.
  • Justifying choices. The student likes a colour but cannot give a design reason.

A quiet student who hesitates to show work in class may find it easier to discuss a layout one-to-one, where the feedback is about the design and stays between student and teacher.

What does a lesson look like?

Here is an original critique of a fictional school fun-run poster. The student used the same font size for the event name, date, venue and sponsor line.

The teacher asks: if a student walks past for two seconds, what should they read? The student answers: the event name and the date.

Element Before After
Event name 24 pt 48 pt, bold
Date and time 24 pt 28 pt
Venue 24 pt 18 pt
Sponsor line 24 pt 12 pt

The teacher then asks the student to explain each change in a sentence, such as: “The name is largest and boldest because it must be read first.” The skill is giving a reason in the language of the subject, and the student repeats it on new layouts until it becomes routine.

What can online lessons do, and what stays with the student?

Online lessons cover critique of your layout, design principles, planning a design process and feedback on written explanations. The teacher asks about parts of your design as you talk.

The project you submit for assessment is made by you, using your school’s software and within your school’s rules. The teacher does not produce assessed artwork and cannot promise a grade.

Common questions

Will the teacher design my assessed project?

No. The teacher critiques, explains principles and asks questions so you improve your own work. Assessed projects must be the student's own, and the final design decisions stay with you.

What software do I need?

Use whichever software your school uses. The principles of layout, contrast and process apply in any tool, and the teacher works from what you describe of your design.

Can lessons help with the written part of the subject?

Yes. Explaining why a colour, font or layout was chosen, and describing the design process in order, are skills the teacher can practise with you.

How much does tuition cost?

The first class is a one-hour trial (from RM50). The fee is agreed with you before the trial at the teacher's hourly rate, and lessons are usually about 1.5 hours, with the schedule agreed with your teacher.

If you want a second pair of eyes on why a layout feels cluttered, a one-to-one lesson critiques it with you and teaches the reasoning. Tell us the design task you are stuck on. Parents usually arrange the trial.
