Questions 1 to 4: find and fix
Question 1. Correct the error: Beberapa murid-murid sudah tiba di dewan.
Answer
“Beberapa” already means more than one, so repeating “murid” doubles the plural. The correction is Beberapa murid sudah tiba di dewan.
Question 2. Correct the error: Walaupun penat, tetapi Aina menyiapkan kerjanya.
Answer
“Walaupun” and “tetapi” both signal contrast, so one of them is extra. Remove “tetapi”: Walaupun penat, Aina menyiapkan kerjanya.
Question 3. Correct the spelling and capitalisation: Kami mengunjungi muzium negara pada hari selasa.
Answer
“Muzium Negara” is a proper name, so both words take capitals. “Selasa” is a day of the week and also takes a capital. The result is Kami mengunjungi Muzium Negara pada hari Selasa.
“Mengunjungi” is already correct and stays.
Question 4. Correct the punctuation: Emak membeli beras, gula dan, garam.
Answer
A comma does not follow “dan” in a list. The correction is Emak membeli beras, gula dan garam.
Questions 5 to 8: explain, judge and edit a passage
Question 5. Correct this sentence and explain the change in one sentence: Novel itu sudah dibaca oleh kami.
Answer
The corrected sentence is Novel itu sudah kami baca.
The explanation: the doer is “kami”, a first-person pronoun, so the passive puts the pronoun before the bare verb and drops “di-” and “oleh”.
Question 6. Is this sentence an error or an acceptable choice? Gelap gelita bilik itu.
Answer
It is an acceptable choice. The descriptive phrase comes first for effect, no grammar rule is broken and the meaning is clear. Leave it alone.
Question 7. A student changed Kami bermalam di rumah nenek. to Kami menginap di kediaman nenek kami. Was this a correction?
Answer
No. The original sentence was correct, and the new one only swaps words the student preferred. That is a rewrite, not a correction.
The extra “kami” also repeats a pronoun the sentence did not need. When no rule is broken, the original stays.
Question 8. Correct the three errors and give a short reason for each.
Pada hari jumaat, Encik Razak pergi ke pejabat pos. dia membeli beberapa setem-setem untuk dihantar kepada anak-anaknya.
Answer
- “jumaat” becomes Jumaat, because days of the week take a capital letter.
- “dia” becomes Dia, because a new sentence begins with a capital letter.
- “beberapa setem-setem” becomes beberapa setem, because “beberapa” already marks more than one.
“anak-anaknya” stays as written.
If you got these wrong
